How To Update Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 with leaked official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Update

How To Update Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 with leaked official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Update

Install Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean leaked firmware for the Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 400x250 How To Update Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 with leaked official Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Update
A leaked variant of the Android 4.2.2 JB for the Samsung Galaxy S3 International variant appeared earlier today on various web sites. Now, you can use this tutorial and learn how to successfully flash this leaked Jelly Bean 4.2.2 build based on official Samsung firmware. Read this entire post and make sure that you’re an advanced user who knows how to use ODIN and flash new firmware files.
In order to successfully manage to install this new Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean leaked firmware for your Samsung Galaxy S3, then you first take a look at the preparation guide below:
  • Use this tutorial only with the Samsung Galaxy S3 International variant. It should have the build number I9300. Don’t try to flash this firmware file on any other Android device, as you will end up bricking it.
  • The smartphone that you’re about to update can be rooted, but note that by updating it you will revoke root access for it. This is a leaked firmware, but it still is based on official Samsung firmware which is why any root access will be removed after installation is complete.
  • Make sure that the Samsung USB Drivers are installed on your PC. Without these, your phone cannot be recognized by ODIN. If you don’t have them on your PC, then you can download them from here.
  • Enable USB debugging from the Android Developer Options menu. It can be found by opening Settings menu. NOTE: If the Developer Options menu doesn’t appear, then you should open Settings, scroll down to About Phone and then tap 7 times on the Build Number section which will enable the Android Development area for your device.
  • make sure that there is no antivirus running on your PC.
  • Also, disable Samsung KIES program before getting to the tutorial.
  • Save all your important before installing the new OS.
  • If the phone shows Force Closing errors, enters a boot loop after installing the new ROM, then you will be asked to wipe data and all the contents from your device, including the internal SDcard. If you don’t factory reset the phone, it won’t boot with the new Jelly Bean update.
  • make sure that you know what you’re doing and that you’re an advanced Android user. This guide shouldn’t be applied by novices.
  • Don’t blame us in case something goes wrong and you brick the phone. If you have any questions or you cannot complete the tutorial, then you should ask for extra help in comments.
  • The phone’s battery power charge levels should be over 50%, so that it will prevent the device from switching off in the middle of the updating process.
  • Don’t skip any steps that I have listed in this post.
These were all the preparation steps you had to take before continuing to the tutorial.
NOTE: If the phone doesn’t boot with the new OS then you should read this: a ‘factory reset’ is required after installing the ROM, which is why you need to backup your most important data before installing the new OS so that you will be prepared and you won’t lose any files.
If the installation completes without problems and the phone boots without problems, then there is nothing to worry and the factory reset is avoidable.

How to update Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 to leaked Android 4.2.2 XXUFME3 Jelly Bean:

  1. Download the I9300XXUFME3 zip file from here. Save the file on your PC.
  2. Extract the contents of I9300XXUFME3 and save them to a single folder on your computer’s desktop screen. You should obtain a file with the .tar or .tar.md5 extension; don’t extract any further.
  3. Download Odin 3.04 from HERE. Save the file on your PC and extract its contents to a folder named ODIN. NOTE: if Odin 3.04 doesn’t work, then you should try and use Odin 3.07 (here) or Odin 1.85 (here).
  4. Power off your Galaxy S3 now. Remove its battery and then re-insert it after 5 seconds have passed, and leave the phone switched off.
  5. Now, boot the SGS3 into Download Mode like this: press and hold simultaneously the Volume Down, Home and Power buttons until the screen powers on. Then, press Volume Up to confirm that you want to boot into Android Download mode. Continue to the next step.
  6. Launch ODIN executable on your computer.
  7. Next, connect your smartphone to your PC via USB data cable. ODIN should say ‘Added!’ and that means that you can continue to the next step.
    > if the phone isn’t recognized by ODIN, then you should try to change the USB ports or to re-install the Samsung USB drivers. After that you have to repeat the entire tutorial once again.
  8. Click ‘PDA’ button in ODIN and then load the ‘I9300XXUFME3_I9300OJKFME1_HOME.tar.md5′ file. Don’t change any other default settings of the program.
    > make sure that the Re-Partition option is not enabled.
  9. Click the START button when you’re ready to upgrade your Galaxy S3 to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean leaked firmware.
  10. The installation process shouldn’t take long and in under 10 minutes it should have flashed all the required files of I9300XXUFME3 build.
  11. The phone will reboot and load the home screen of the new operating system.
  12. Test all the new features and then tell us in comments how’s the Galaxy S3 working now that is running the latest build of Android.
NOTE: in case ODIN freezes or it displays the FAIL message, then you will have to disconnect the device from PC, close ODIN and remove the battery from your phone. Re-insert the battery back into its place and then repeat the entire tutorial once again starting with step 5. This time you have to make sure that you don’t skip any steps. However, if you cannot complete the update, then you might want to try to use another variant of ODIN, as the 3.07 version might not work.
NOTE2: If ODIN says ‘PASS’ and the phone restarts but, it cannot get past the Galaxy S3 boot animation, then you will have to apply the following steps:
  • power off the device completely and remove its battery.
  • re-insert the battery after 5 seconds have passed.
  • boot your device into Recovery mode like this: press and hold Volume Up, Home and Power buttons.
  • When the Samsung logo appears, release all buttons and the Recovery mode will boot.
  • Select ‘wipe data/ factory reset’ option and confirm.
  • Return to the first screen of Recovery mode.
  • Select ‘reboot system now’.
  • Wait for the phone to boot and then enter your Google Account credentials in order to take control over your phone once again.

By Ryan Inoyori | July 26, 2013 5:39 PM EST

Samsung insider tipped out that the company is working on an official Android 4.3 update for the Galaxy S3 instead of releasing Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Google already pushed update for Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, Nexus 7 & Nexus 10 which will be followed by Galaxy S4 and other Google Edition devices. Owners who are waiting should know the top 10 benefits of Galaxy S3 running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean.
OpenGL ES 3.0 Support
Once it is updated to Android 4.3, the Galaxy S3 will get intense workup with OpenGL ES 3.0 in terms of graphics, texturing and rendering used in gaming, apps and user interface. Owners of Galaxy S3 can play games with even vivid graphics and intense user experience.
Bluetooth Smart
With this feature, the Galaxy S3 can now communicate with many types of low-power Bluetooth Smart devices and sensors available. It provides new features for fitness, medical, location, proximity and more kinds of sensors. In addition, Bluetooth Smart will not be troublesome anymore to the battery life unlike before.
Media Capabilities Updated
Expect to stream high-resolution videos from several media providers such as Netflix with their 1080p video live streaming. DRM framework enables more media app developers to easily integrate their streaming services and protocols to the Galaxy S3.
Notification Access
The notifications at the top of your Galaxy S3 will now have a new version which allows data stream with your permission according to apps made by developers. These applications and services will have a new class of "smart" apps that displays all information right on the status bar.
Wi-Fi Scanning for Location
Wi-Fi connectivity can now keep your location-based features in passive mode even if your Wi-Fi has been turned off. Of course there is also a control if you want to disable the new feature as well but this new addition from Android 4.3 allows "keeping location features" without possible need for active GPS or Wi-Fi.
Auto Complete Function
Android 4.3 can now perform an auto-complete for names and phone numbers directly from the dial pad. It changes the previous dialling method by tapping search icon and typing a name. This small change could be very beneficial for those who use the dialler often.
Improved Keyboard Input
If Android 4.2.2 provided the gesture-typing for the stock keyboard, Android 4.3 improves typing input and responsiveness of the virtual keys. Android 4.3 also support more languages such as Arabic in the language input for the keyboard.
Multiplayer Gaming
Android 4.3 Jelly Bean running devices will have a special access on the Google Play Store's multiplayer games. This new gaming centre is soon to be released and supports optimisation on larger screens. It also features online game saving via clouding service and online achievements.
Smoother, Faster and More Responsive User Experience
Overall user experience will be greatly improved and Galaxy S3 owners can expect better responsiveness on apps and the touch screen. Android 4.3 optimises software and hardware relation, lowers battery consumption, better sensor readings, improved game vectors and power efficient location computation.
Samsung TouchWiz and Exclusives
Since Android 4.3 Jelly Bean features improved graphics, better battery life, hardware acceleration & allows multi-threading CPU cores, Samsung can now port Galaxy S4's exclusive apps and the brand new TouchWiz UI without too much adjustments or issues with Galaxy S3.
Samsung's plan to update Galaxy S3 to Android 4.3 might be the best move after all, benefiting owners with better Android version and greater user experience.

What are roms

¿What is an Samsung based ROM?

We call Samsung / Sammy based to all the ROMS who have they base on some of the official (sometimes leaked) firmwares by Samsung, some examples are XXLPG, XXLQ5, XWLPD, etc.

In this ROMS, mostly, you can find the usual Touchwiz interface, however some ROMS include different themes to change the appareance.

« ¿What is an AOSP based ROM?

First of all, AOSP stands for Android Open Source Project.

These ROMs offer you the "stock" Android experience without all the extras provided by the manufacturers like Samsung, HTC, etc. they are based directly on the source code from Android. They may be tweaked but are, in their entirety, the closest to a "pure Google experience".

More information here: http://source.android.com/

« ¿What is an AOKP based ROM?

First of all, AOKP stands for Android Open Kang Project.

Well, AOKP is in essence AOSP, the main difference being all the added customization that AOSP ROMs lack. AOKP ROMs still maintain the "stock" Android experience, except with many possible customization options at your fingertips.

More information here: http://aokp.co/index.php/news

« ¿What is a MIUI based ROM?

Very basically, MIUI is the Chinese custom version of Android. The main difference that have from another ROM's is precisely their unique customization options.

The MIUI team hast their own launcher, widgets, apps, etc. If you really want a change from the Green/Gray of GB or the Black/Blue of ICS then take a look at MIUI ROMs.

More information here: http://en.miui.com/

« ¿What is CyanogenMod?

CyanogenMod it's a ROM pure based on AOSP, but have a main feature...it's a base too for many of the ROM's that you can see here, the Cyanogen Team works on innovative features that later are ported to different Devices / ROM's.

You can't see an independent category on this index but maybe you are receiving a touch of CM on the ROM that you have on your phone

FAQ:

- It's STRONGLY ADVICED to BUY the JKay Deluxe Settings app from the Play Store with this ROM!
(I won't earn anything from the app, since its made by _JKay_, and not by me)

You will get MANY extra features/options with the JKay deluxe settings app! For example:
  • Choose between 6 different lock screens (including the Samsung ripple/ink and AOSP lock screen)
  • Enable Multi-Window for 3rd party apps
  • Make the statusbar transparent
  • Change the battery icon to the one that's in the screenshots
  • Enable the toggles you want or even add a 2nd row of toggles to the notification panel
  • And MANY MORE!!
The JKay Framework is already integrated in this rom, so don't flash it by yourself (you will LOSE the Elegant theme)
You only need to download the JKay Deluxe Settings app from the Play Store!

- If there's an newer JKay framework out (that isn't in this rom yet) then you can follow this guide to update to the newer JKay framework: Click Here!

- If you wanna have the Samsung lockscreen: Open the JKay Deluxe Settings app -> Select 'Circle'
And disable this: Set common options -> de-activate 'Transparent status bar'

- The Jelly Bean lock screen in the JKay settings app is the Xperia Z lock screen.

- You can only change the lock screen wallpaper for the Circle (Samsung) lock screen via the usual method... Or you can use this method to change the lock screen wallpaper for the Xperia Z lock screen:
For XperianZe 0.9.7.2+: Use the 'Lock Screen' shortcut in your app-drawer to change the lock screen wallpaper, and make sure you use the Sony album app to crop your image, when it get asked.

- When you use the Xperia Z lock screen, you will see 0.3 - 0.5 second your original lock screen wallpaper when you unlock, this is the fix

- For the people who can't change the lock screen wallpaper for the Circle (Samsung) lock screen:
Make sure this option in JKay deluxe settings app is de-activated: Under 'lock screen options'; set common options -> de-activate transparant status bar.
Now set a lock screen wallpaper with the Samsung Gallery. The Sony album app won't work.

- Standard you will have a Blue Xperia battery mod icon by ksr007 in the status-bar, not the one in the screenshots:
Can be fixed using the JKay Deluxe Settings app from the Play Store: Statusbar options -> de-activate 'Hires battery icon'

- You can find an Circle battery mod in the Aroma installer, to get the old Circle battery statusbar icon back (which was in XperianZe 0.9.6.1 and older)

- If you wanna fix the gap between the data arrows and the data icon in the statusbar, then enable this option in the JKay app: Statusbar options -> activate 'AOSP data layout'

- If Multi window mod doesn't work for 3rd party apps:
Fix: Activate the 'All apps support multi window' option in the JKay Deluxe Settings app, reboot after that.

- If you use one of the Xperia Z launchers; then make sure that you set the 'Window animation scale' in Developer options at least at .5x,
when you select 'Animation off' then you will have problems with launching apps in the Xperia Launcher.

- If you are having problems with Phone calls, make sure you have a recent Modem/baseband installed! A few good modems are: XXELLA, XXEMB1 & BUEMA1
You can find them in the General modem thread: Click here!
Since XperianZe 0.9.6 I deliver the newest modem (XXEMB6) with the rom.

- If you did choose for the Boeffla, the Adam or the Shark kernel in the Aroma installer, then you can use the Boeffla sound control app from the Play Store, to tweak your sound. See post #2 for a link to the app in the Play Store.

- You can Backup/restore your JKay Deluxe settings in the JKay app with the Menu key! (don't forget to restore it after a wipe / ROM upgrade)

Screenshot - Added Kies support files - Added Sony DLNA option, to enable Throw function in the Sony Walkman, Album and Video apps (for Sony TV's) - Made the Sony Calendar app choosable, so that you can flash it back if you don't want the SPlanner anymore. - Stock kernel is now selected by default in the Aroma installer Base Rom changes: - Fixed Google TTS in the Google/Samsung TTS option. - Updated the Sony Walkman app to the latest Xperia Z version (6.0.A.1.0) - And added Wikipedia & YouTube Extensions to the Walkman app - Updated the Sony Calendar, Mail, Video apps to the latest Xperia Z system dump - Updated also the Xperia Z Stock launcher to the latest Xperia Z system dump - Updated some Sony Framework files to the latest Xperia Z system dump - Fixed the AOSP Clock app crashes when setting up an alarm - Added the GroupCast.apk to the AllShare option, to fix the not working Groupcast AllShare screen share function. - Fixed the Smart Alarm function in the Samsung Clock app (included the pre-alarm sounds now) - The rom includes now the newest Play Store (3.10.14) v.0.9.7 AROMA (Complete ROM, 721 MB; All the add-ons are now choosable in the Aroma installer on your phone!) - The rom has an Aroma installer now, so that you can choose ALL the add-ons from post #2 right in the installer on your phone. That’s why the rom did grow to 721 MB - The rom base is still the same size (420 MB) - Read the instructions in the Aroma installer carefully before going to the next step in the installer. - Added also some new add-ons in the Aroma installer:
  • Modem is optionally now
  • Added Boeffla kernel 2.9 Final (didn’t have any mic issues with this version yet)
  • Stock kernel is also still choosable in the Aroma installer
  • Added Android 4.2 stock camera app (including Gallery) with Photosphere.
  • Added a new Google / Samsung TTS add-on, also included the SamsungTTS.apk now, so that the SVOX TTS voices are working now! (I think this fixes the Co Pilot problem)
- Included the SamsungTTS.apk also in the SVoice add-on now. (forgot that in the previous add-on that was in post #2) - Made the Sony Live wallpapers, the Sony Social media plugins, Multi Window control mod app, Track ID, Sony Torch app, Samsung My Files & Pop-up browser choosable in the Aroma installer. - You can also only install extra add-ons with the Aroma installer, without installing the rom again. (de-select ‘Update Rom Base’ in the Aroma installer) - The Preload partition is now also wiped by the installation script automatically (So, you only need to do a Data/factory reset now if you want to do a clean install) Changelog of the previous versions: Click here 0.9: First release (see the Rom details & Features)
Quote:
Bugs:
- Sometimes the Aroma installer freezes... You need to reboot in recovery again then (Long hold: Vol+, Power button and Home button till Samsung screen comes up) and try it again.

Some porting 'bugs':
- You can't edit the song info with the Sony Walkman app.
- The Walkman FaceBook 'Like' function doesn't work
Quote:
How-to Install:
- Do a Data/Factory reset first in CWM (if you come from another rom, or XperianZe 0.9.7.2 and older)
- Start the installation
- Read the instructions in the Aroma installer
- Choose carefully the packages you want in the Aroma installer.
- Install the rom (the installation script of this rom will wipe the following partitions automatically for you: Cache, Dalvik Cache, System and Preload.)
- Enjoy the Rom!

- Do NOT restore app data or system apps with Titanium backup, this can cause many problems. (applies to any rom)

Install extra add-ons after installation:
- If you want to install some other add-ons after you've installed the rom, then just start the Aroma installer again, just select the option 'Only Add-ons' in the Aroma installer and select the add-ons you want to install.
